Blackstone’s $50B Fund to buy Residential Real Estate: Wall Street Owns Main Street

Blackstone has raised a $50B fund to buy homes in the US residential real estate market. Blackstone already owns a large number of homes in the US but this is the largest single fund ever raised to buy houses and use them as rentals.

Wall Street hedge funds and corporations are buying homes in large numbers, over 18% of all homes purchased in 2021 were by wall street funds like Blackstone.
